Parseable Integrates with Datasette for OpenTelemetry Traces
Parseable, a new open-source observability platform, now works with Datasette's recent OpenTelemetry support, allowing developers to feed and visualize trace data from Datasette into Parseable.
What changed?
Parseable is a new observability platform implemented in Rust, available as an open-source binary (about 180MB), with enterprise and cloud options. With the release of Datasette 1.0a41, which introduced OpenTelemetry support, developers can now forward trace data from Datasette to Parseable for analysis and visualization.

Why does it matter to an everyday developer?
This integration provides developers with a fully open-source, local option to ingest, store, and investigate traces produced by Datasette using standard OpenTelemetry protocols. It is beneficial for those seeking observability tooling without relying on third-party cloud services or heavy infrastructure. The small binary size and straightforward setup lower barriers for local development, testing, and debugging.
What can the developer do now?
- 1
Download and run Parseable
Obtain the Parseable binary or build it from the open-source AGPL repository. Run it locally to start accepting telemetry and trace data.
- 2
Enable OpenTelemetry in Datasette
Upgrade to Datasette 1.0a41 or later, and configure its OpenTelemetry support to export traces to the running Parseable instance.
