Cline Desktop v0.0.41: Cloud Session Model Picker and UX Improvements
Cline Desktop now supports the same model options as the web, improves prompt preservation, enhances session navigation, and updates the Connectors UI for better workflow management.
What changed?
Cline Desktop v0.0.41 introduces support for multiple cloud model types—Cline Usage-Billing, ClinePass, and ClineFree—when starting a cloud session, bringing parity with Cline’s web model picker. Organization accounts cannot access ClinePass. The app now waits for a model to be ready before sending prompts and allows users to retry if the model list fails. Unsaved prompts are preserved if you switch sessions, and returning via the sidebar lets you resume unfinished work. The session sidebar is clearer, with app-opened sessions highlighted in real-time. The Connectors UI matches other customization tabs and introduces a Suggested section with example prompt combos and one-click installs.
Why does it matter to an everyday developer?
These changes make Cline Desktop more reliable and flexible for iterative and interrupted workflows. Developers benefit from being able to select the best model for a project or billing situation without switching platforms. Preserving unsent prompts helps prevent data loss when multitasking or getting interrupted. The improved UI for sessions and connectors makes it easier to manage tools and discover workflow-enhancing configurations, reducing setup friction and context loss during daily use.
What can the developer do now?
- Select from Cline Usage-Billing, ClinePass, and ClineFree models when starting new cloud sessions (unless on an organization account).
- Freely switch between sessions without worrying about losing unsent prompts, and resume drafts easily from the sidebar.
- Quickly identify and manage active sessions in the sidebar.
