Browser Use 0.13.12 Adds OpenAI Browser Tools Integration
Browser Use 0.13.12 introduces OpenAI browser tools, supporting core browser automation capabilities with the Browser Use Actor backend. Developers can now integrate browser automation into Python workflows using OpenAI models with improved tool support.
What changed?
Browser Use version 0.13.12 now supports OpenAI browser tools by leveraging the Browser Use Actor infrastructure. Developers can import BrowserUse from browser_use.integrations.openai and use local browsers, Browser Use Cloud, or an existing connected BrowserSession. The release provides access to 18 default browser automation tools and six optional actions. This integration preserves critical settings such as URL and timeouts across OpenAI 2.x and 3.x model wrappers.
Why does it matter to an everyday developer?
The new integration enables Python developers using OpenAI models to automate browser workflows without switching environments or toolkits. It simplifies scripting for web navigation, form handling, and content retrieval as part of language model applications, making it easier to build assistants or automations involving web interaction. However, limitations remain: uploads, downloads, scoped reads, console or network diagnostics, and Bash access are not yet available.
What can the developer do now?
- 1
Install the updated package
Run pip install 'browser-use[openai-tools]' to set up the required dependencies for OpenAI Python 3.31 or newer.
- 2
Import the integration
Use 'from browser_use.integrations.openai import BrowserUse' in your project to enable browser automation capabilities.
